Well, see ... marriage isn't a governmental affair, at least not religiously. Religiously speaking, you can be married without it being civilly recognized with a license, tax benefits, etc. But to receive said tax benefits the government has to have some sort recording keeping. As I have often said the argument is generally not about gay marriage in its basic essence, it is the governmental recognition of said marriage, that homosexuals are after. If we removed these benefits and licensing requirements, having everyone being equal regardless of marital status or sexual orientation, I think you would see a large part of both sides of the argument calm down. At that point there is no governmental incentives to a largely personal/religious ceremony, which will naturally eliminate a majority of the protesters.

I used to put ESET NOD32 3.5 one everything, but even 4 lets a lot of malware and rootkits through to mess up the system completely. Now i put Avira 9 on everything. It's been bulletproof up until last week. So now i'm switching to MSE, since it's free, uses no resources, and has decent ratings. We will see how long that will last. I've also test Symantec 2010. Though it is improved from the older ones in terms or resources, it is still not nearly as lean as NOD, Avira, nor MSE. I can feel it bogging down especially on older systems and VMs. Sadly it's really tough to get good info on antivirus due to it's nature, and takes a lot of time to test by yourself.
